Learning to Love our Bodies
The body is your beginning. Yogic masters say that your body is: “Matter ascending toward spirit; spirit incarnating in matter.”
Many of us were socialized in a culture that separates flesh and sprit, and chastises the body as an abode of evil instinct. Yet, we are seduced by the media’s sex symbols that urge efforts to appear attractive and act sexy. All too often we are stuck with a self-criticism that harms our ability to understand and honor our own bodies and emotions. If you are antagonistic or hateful toward your body and mind, you will send damaging messages to your soma, creating imbalanced vibrational pulse. This is the beginning of your becoming miserable, closed down, and ill, with greater chance of injury and disease. You may already experience something like this; we all go through periods where we are disconnected from our bodies. Some people spend an entire lifetime in a repressed, shame based state of regarding their emotions and bodies.
Honor Your Body
YOUR body is your temple of unique divinity. You are in charge of your temple, you honor it by keeping it clean and healthy so that you can nurture and express the divinity within. It is never too late. Your natural energy and vitality can be cultivated at any age. At any point, your cells will begin to grow toward healthy, balanced vibration. They want to!
First, you must learn to re-enter your own body by becoming conscious of the interplay between our own mind and body. Negative emotional patterns, and intentions and actions lead you to blocking your natural energy and vitality. How do we shed these blocks and cultivate life?
Your essence is empowered with what your heart feels deeply. This wellspring is the “ever changing flow of love and the dance of life’s light.” The grace you carry conveys a confidence that emanates from vital well-being and self-appreciation. Your body is your intimate friend—accepted, cared for, cherished—regardless of age, shape or color.
You do not need to have bulging muscles or shapely curves. It is important to achieve physical well-being through healthy diet, physical exercise, deep breathing, and relaxation. Being weak and out of shape will leave you tense, anxious, and distracted. Chronic restriction of circulation of blood and energy in the body breed insufficient energy, lack of concentration, and stamina to prolong and consciously inspire your LIFE.
You may acknowledge organic pleasures like good food, a long country walk, yet may not value pleasures your are able to receive with your body. Are you educated giving pleasure to another? Knowing what brings your body pleasure? Rarely we are given insight on “how to’s” of body pleasure. These blocks create obstacles to full enjoyment of your sensual energy and circulation. Transforming your shame and self-consciousness toward explorations, makes you able to give and receive love, touch and pleasure from within the depths of your sensuality.
Honor and rediscover your own body so you can receive and assimilate more subtle and intense energies. By becoming sensually alive, you will serve as a beacon to the rest of the life force, as a conduit for inspiring greater vitality, pleasure, and joy.
The Biology of Love
Humans depend on love. Love is the core of evolution, a basis for our society. Love is cellular, visceral, and physiological. Love stems from a deeply rooted, primitive need for survival, grounded in a powerful yearning for connection. . .
Love is a quality of emotion and a bio-electric current. Love is an unconscious drive and conscious emotion. In the spiritual sense, love is considered the noblest human experience. You are driven to experience love to sustain survival. We get this feeling from spiritual, intimate, and sensual bonding––and is the foundation of all sacred healing practices.
Thinking About YOU!
Throughout the journey of our maturing lives each of us meets unique challenges which shape our emotional capacity to give and receive love, affecting our openness to the flow of love’s energy. We each develop unique closure and opening habits in response to our specific life challenges. Yet, inherently, we are drawn into this golden circle: the quest for love’s euphoric state of being, again and again.
The motivation to sustain longevity of survival drives our species, borne from our great human capacity for love and loving.
Do You seek to find the Divine in the other, through human connection?
You (may) have been taught that sensuality and emotion, though each a quest for connection and union, are different or even lower forms of a connection. Are they?
The Evolution of Pleasure
Have you ever observed an animal licking another animal who is wounded? Or licking their own wounds? This loving acting of soothing helps heal the pain and incision by touching and giving the other, or self, both male and female attributes: being held, contained and protected, defended.
Endorphin (Endogenous Morphines), is an opiate that masks a pain and provides extra energy in the body by calming the nervous system. Endorphins are the first thing your body creates when a wound, pain or incision occurs. Once your nervous system is calmed, your body has capacity for greater blood circulation, oxygen and creation of other chemicals that energize healing.
In moments of felt mutual resonance, less fear, need to individuate, instills pleasure, much like what an infant may experience when in the womb, or in the first few years of bonding with primary care. Through a shared feeling of warmth, and safety when synchronicity is achieved, you are naturally transported to a euphoric bliss. Endorphins then expound to other calming, soothing and energizing geared toward pleasure, survival, and love like Oxytocins, Seratonins, and Adrenaline.
We seek love. . . Pleasure is its core.
The experience of “falling in love” gives rise to these same organic chemicals––that most likely explain the euphoric high of magnanimous heart expansion, intuitive consciousness, and spiritual energy. When you experience this endless calm and energy for a sustained period, you are transported to a spiritual trance like state, chains in the electrical activity of the brain. This creates an altered consciousness, changes in your sense of time, space, identity, and strong emotional pleasure––“paradise.”
Mystics of old have described their experiences in the language of sensuality. In the midst of sensual passion and spirit is the poetry of “love.” Orgasm is recognized as an altered state of consciousness; shared orgasm, the giving of touch and pleasure. In this trance, you have entered a vast pool of warmth, soothed and calmed, tended to; ultimately fully accepted, felt and contained. At the root of all, is pleasure. It is pleasure that we seek for survival.
Cultivating Organic Pleasure
Pleasure is a beautiful celebration of Life, Love. The pursuit of love and pleasure is woven into all aspects of life. Pleasure creates a myriad of effects on your mind, body and relationships. Awareness of how you pursue the fulfillment and pleasure, and how you handle it when your needs are not met, is a pathway to mind and body awareness.
Many people have closed to the pleasure activities engaged naturally as children. Cultivating organic pleasures in adulthood keeps us from going after it in unhealthy ways, like addiction.
Sensuality is your doorway. Organic pleasure from within creates a body, mind connection, a natural self-soothing. You free yourself from rigidity, calm anxiety, and open your neural pathways to circulate more oxygen, blood and healthy chemical. Pleasures in your body, organically effects your mind. You radiate into the world a source of natural energy that enhances our species’ evolutionary survival.
It is your choice and your freedom to do so! . . . Would you rather be a purveyor of light or a vampire, fueled by negativity and latching on to others’ energy?
Human Need for Loving Touch
Loving touch gives humans a grounded sense of overall healthy living.
You body somatically experiences all feelings and sensations. These create emotions, processed in your brain. Touch is the most direct connection from one body to another. Loving touch creates pleasure-inducing chemicals, the bonding in care taking, required for our survival. Loving touch provides this more quickly in your body and brain than any other loving act. We are healed through a connection with another living being, especially through touch.
Let’s go back billions of years to the symbiotic union of single cells, to the first multi-celled organism, to the first life forms on our planet. Throughout time living things have nurtured this union through instinct, our essential interconnection with one another and the rest of nature. We cannot survive without the physical caring of being fed and sheltered, and without the physical caring of touch.
‘Why do some people shame pleasure and touch that heals us?’
In the first few moments of receiving touch, a person’s natural cell growth is accelerated. Within 45 minutes of being touched your cells and nervous system are calmed, able to recalibrate. This allows for more blood circulation, higher Endorphin and Serotonin levels––an overall much more balanced state of being. People need to be touched just as importantly as the need for drinking water, eat food, and exercise. We need to touch others and be touched as a healing.
Your mind and body union is connected to pleasure. As a seeker of healing touch, you are communicating to yourself and the Universe that you deserve to cultivate more pleasure in your life, thus expanding a desire to live healthfully. Focusing on attunement to positive beauty and abundance through being lovingly held and touched are ways you can actively seek pleasure in your daily life . . . and thus become more deeply touched and loved by LOVE and LIFE!
Welcoming and cultivating a radiant healing of mind and body in your daily life, fuels your body and mind to generate vats of pleasure and love, for the good survival of our species. xo. . Oceana. . .
